Dr. Raja Lope holds an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Malaya, M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, University of London. |

Dr. Raja Lope has extensive experience in the banking industry, having spent 18 years with Bank Negara Malaysia, during which he was appointed as Head of Economic Research Department in 1976. In 1979, he joined the then United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad ("UMBC") as general manager in charge of the International Division and was subsequently appointed the Executive Vice President in 1986. He also served on the board of directors of UMBC and was Chairman of UMBC Securities Berhad and UMBC Insurance Berhad. He was an Advisor at The Pacific Bank Berhad between 1993 and 1995 before joining Rating Agency Malaysia Berhad in October 1995 as Executive Director. In 1999, he joined AmBank Berhad as Executive Director, acting as a nominee of Danamodal National Berhad, until September 2003.
Currently, he is an Independent Director of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad besides sitting on the boards of a few private companies. |
