Datuk Fong started his carrer
with Bank Negara Malaysia in 1964 and before he left in 1982,
he was the Head of the Economics Department. He joined Oversea-Chinese
Banking Corporation Ltd. in 1983 as Deputy General Manager,
Malaysian Operations. He was subsequently promoted to General
Manager in 1986 and after the establishment of OCBC Bank (Malaysia)
Berhad, he was appointed its Chief Executive Officer and director
in 1994. Shortly after that, he was appointed for a 3 year term
as Deputy Governor of Bank Negara. |
